The origin of passito wine is lost in the mists of time. Homer speaks of it as the pearl of antiquity. To preserve the wines, Egyptians, Phoenicians, Greeks, Etruscans and Romans dried the grapes in the sun, directly on the plant or in dedicated rooms.
Passito wine is obtained from a late harvest of dried grapes, i.e. subjected to over-ripening in order to increase their sugar concentration and decrease their acidity.
The color is amber, with intense aromas, an ancient, full-bodied, biting and deliciously sweet taste. Alcohol content 14.0% -14.5% vol.
